European families are home to almost 90 million cats, animals that are fascinating and independent but also affectionate and great companions. In fact, a cat's character makes it a perfect household pet as they are always looking for affection and adventure. However, since they are so cunning and clever, they always want to go exploring and it is estimated that, in Europe, almost 6.5 million cats are lost each year escaping from their homes.
Why do cats run away? Our feline friends often run away for a number of reasons; because of their reproductive instincts; after moving to a new home; due to the arrival of other animals or infants; and also because, after all, they love to explore their surroundings. In order to prevent your cat from escaping there are some methods everyone can try at home: catnip, to reduce the effect of smells that could attract your feline; leaving out food and water where it can always be reached; or, for kittens, close the gaps in your fence or gate with netting.
The cat, however, is an animal that is always on the move: use Kippy, the perfect GPS device for your cat, to protect it from dangers and find out where it is at all times. Kippy allows you to monitor its activities at all times, whether your cat is asleep or playing, and to monitor its movements, thanks to the Geofence function, which allows you to set up a virtual fence, and Proximity, the compass that helps you find your cat if it escapes.
Kippy is suitable for all animals weighing more than 4/5 Kg. This means that it is perfect for all common types of cat, which on average reach this weight as an adult or after the first two years of life.
Kippy is a simple device that does not irritate cats, whose fur is very sensitive because of their nerve endings: Kippy should be worn so that your cat can get used to wearing it all the time, every day. The ideal place to put Kippy is not on a collar but on a harness, in order to reduce any irritation for your pet and to maximise GPS performance, without obstructing its movements.
With the History feature you can see up to two months of your cat's activity on the Kippy Vita app. You can see its GPS locations, represented by blue-coloured pins, in chronological order. Click on one of the pins to get the date and time of the selected location. Additionally, Kippy also works without GPS, thanks to the location function on smartphones: these points, called LBS (Location Based Services), are represented by transparent green circles that locate your cat's position.
The History feature also has a "calendar" button: select a date to display your cat's location on that specific day. In this way, you can see the places your cat has been on that specific day. Finally, you can see the full history of all the GPS locations on the life.kippy.eu web app.
Loving your cat means protecting it responsibly from the dangers that it cannot instinctively figure out itself. With Kippy you will always be able to check on your cat from afar, so that it can explore its surrounding environment freely, while you monitor its progress, for a safe, happy and healthy life.Discover the app
